We are working on catalysis (visible-light-responsive photocatalysis, single-atom catalysis, and reduction catalysis), membrane materials and processes, and material fabrication (electrospinning) for diverse environmental, energy, food, and public health applications.
Environmental pathogens, including bacteria (foodborne and waterborne bacteria) and viruses (rotavirus, norovirus, SARS-CoV-2), raise significant public health concerns in recent years. We are inspired to develop novel engineering tools for capturing and inactivating the pathogens, preventing pathogen transmission, and mitigating disease outbreaks (pathogen control). Recently, we are particularly interested in the environmental implication and engineering control of an emerging pathogenic unit, vesicle-cloaked virus clusters.
